The Blackwing XIX is a tribute to the 19th Amendment and the continued fight for voting rights in the United States and around the world.
On August 18th, 1920, Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment. That day, pro-suffrage protestors and legislators wore yellow roses pinned to their lapels, while their anti-suffrage counterparts wore red roses. This prompted the day to be dubbed “The War of the Roses.”
This enamel pin is inspired by the yellow roses worn by the suffragists one hundred years ago. It was designed by our friend Florian Bertmer, and features the word “Inalienable” emblazoned on a banner across its face.
Make sure to complete your collection with the XIX pencils. It features a purple barrel and three-sided white and golden yellow imprint inspired by the suffrage flag, striped silver ferrule, and purple eraser. The firm graphite is perfect for writing a letter to your Representatives or making your voting plan. Register to vote, request your mail-in ballot, and vote early.
NOTE: This superb limited edition will be shipping early September.
